What is Upcycling?
Upcycling is becoming increasingly popular among groups and individuals concerned with wasteful consumption and reducing trash.
Upcycling, also known as creative reuse, is the process of transforming by-products, waste materials, useless, or unwanted products into new materials or products of better quality or for better environmental value.
Imagine turning something rather unappealing into something very appealing! The trick is in seeing the potential beauty and usefulness in everything...a step up from recycling and repurposing, if you will!
Many usable pieces of furniture are discarded every day, just because they have a small stain or the owner changed his home decor. Most of the time, the wood, metal or upholstery is still in great condition and can--with imagination and patience--be converted into something beautiful and reusable. The same goes for clothing. Upcycling reduces textile waste by reusing deadstock and gently used fabrics to create new garments and products.
